Smoothies have been around for a very long time. Some are sweet, some are savory, some are healthy, and some are not. The trendy thing now is a smoothie bowl. A smoothie bowl is a thicker version of a smoothie that is in a bowl. It is eaten with a spoon rather than a straw and it has all sorts of yummy and beautiful toppings. If you search Instagram, you will see a gazillion photos of smoothie bowls. Many of them are works of art!
My strawberry smoothie bowl consists of frozen strawberries, milk, honey, and vanilla. Then I very carefully topped it with sliced bananas, sliced strawberries, blueberries, macadamia nuts, sliced kiwi, and dried mango. You can use your favorite toppings. These are fruit and nuts that I happened to have on hand.
The really great thing about a smoothie bowl is that it encourages healthy eating (as long as you use healthy ingredients😉) and it is way more filling than a smoothie with all those goodies on top. It makes a great breakfast, lunch, or snack and you can have it your way by using whatever toppings you like.
And, I’m not going to lie…it was really fun decorating the top of that smoothie! It’s so pretty I almost don’t want to eat it…well, almost😋
