Solar Eclipse 2017

Solar Eclipse 2017

August 21st, 2017 was the first total solar eclipse, where the moon completely covered the sun, in 99 years. We happened to live right in its path! Thanks to my husband’s bank, we had our handy dandy solar eclipse glasses ready. The day started out with a torrential down pour and heavy cloud cover, which was such a bummer since I had been looking forward to this for quite some time. Lucky for us just before the eclipse began, the sun came out and the clouds cleared away. Here we are looking like total dorks…but safety first! The solar eclipse was such a cool thing to see. When the moon completely covered the sun, the sky grew dark and the temperature dropped. It only lasted about 50 seconds, but WOW that was really cool! After the eclipse,we decided to grill steaks. This proved to be a once in a lifetime experience all the way around. For the very first time, my husband let me man the grill! That was a lot of pressure (that’s my excuse for the intense look on my face)! Not bad for my first time. Just look at those grill marks!!! If you’re interested in the recipe for my mouth watering steak and twice baked potato, leave a comment and I will post it ☺️. If you missed solar eclipse 2017, no worries! The next one will happen April 8, 2024. You have plenty of time to get your dork on and get some of these awesome glasses for safe viewing.
