Miso Ginger Sauce

An Asian sauce with a little bit of heat and a little bit of sweet that will add great flavor to your fish, shrimp, chicken, pasta, or vegetables!

Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp oil
  • 2 inch piece of ginger peeled and minced
  • 2 cloves garlic finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup white miso paste
  • 1/4 cup mirin
  • 2 Tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tsp toasted sesame oil
  • 2 Tbsp sriracha sauce
  • 2 Tbsp honey

Instructions

  • In a sauce pan, heat the oil over medium heat, add the ginger and garlic and sautee 3-5 minutes until tender
  • Whisk in remaining ingredients and bring to a boil
  • Once the sauce has come to a boil, remove from heat

Notes

A simple and safe way to peel ginger is to use the back of a spoon to scrape off the skin.
Grape seed oil is a good choice because it has a high smoke point and it is flavorless.
Tamari is a gluten free substitute for soy sauce.
If you like, the sauce can be blended so that there are no chunks of ginger or garlic.
This recipe yields 1 cup of miso ginger sauce.
