- 4 tbsp salt
- 6 limes juiced (enough to make 12 ounces)
- 12 ounces tequila
- 1/2 tsp stevia powder
- 24 ounces sparkling water or club soda
Salting the Rims
Put the salt on to a plate that is larger than the diameter of the serving glasses
Cut a lime into 8 wedges
Cut a notch into 1 of the wedges, place the notch over the rim of your glass, and rub the lime around the entire rim of the glass
Turn the glass upside down and put it on the plate of salt, gently twisting until the rim is salted
Repeat with all serving glasses
Mixing the Margaritas
To a pitcher, add the tequila, lime juice, and stevia
Stir until the stevia has dissolved
Add the sparkling water or club soda and stir
It generally takes 5-7 squeezed limes depending on their size to make 12 ounces of lime juice.
For a frozen margarita, add 1 cup of the margarita mixture and 2 cups of ice to a blender and blend until smooth. Crushed ice helps the process along.
For spicy margaritas, add a sliced jalapeno pepper or habanero pepper to the pitcher and let rest 10 minutes before serving. The longer it rests, the spicier it becomes.
Substituting Santa Cruz Organic Fresh Lime Juice for fresh squeezed reduces the calories to 130 and the carbs to 0.
