This super simple beef chili recipe is the perfect dish to warm your tummy as the Fall weather approaches! It’s a bowl of hearty, beefy, tomatoey, tangy goodness that makes you want to put on your favorite sweats, grab your remote, and turn on your favorite show.
Cook up some ground beef with some onions.
Before seasoning, I rinse my beef in a colander to get most of the fat out. This step is optional. I’m sure that fat would add a ton of flavor!
Then, I put the ground beef back into to pan and season with chili powder, salt, and pepper.
This step is optional too. I like chunks in my chili but not whole slices of tomato, so I use my kitchen scissors to cut the tomatoes into smaller pieces. You could also puree them if you don’t like chunky chili. Then, I add stewed tomatoes and tomato sauce and bring it to a simmer.
After it has simmered 10-15 minutes and all of the flavors have developed, add a can or two of kidney beans, depending on how many beans you like in your chili and stir.
Lastly, I add the secret ingredient…apple cider vinegar! The vinegar gives the chili a tang that makes it oooh so delicious!
This beef chili goes great with a side of jalapeño cheddar cornbread, my sweat pants, and some Food Network! Bring on the Fall season, I’m ready!
