Ingredients

Smoky Beer Braised Brisket

  • 3 pound brisket
  • salt & pepper
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 Tbsp liquid smoke
  • 1/4 cup worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp garlic powder
  • 2 tbsp onion powder
  • 1 can beer
  • 6 cloves garlic chopped
  • 1 onion sliced

BBQ Sauce

  • 8 ounces tomato sauce
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tsp dijon mustard
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp molasses
  • 1 tsp liquid smoke
  • 1 tbsp worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp tamarind paste
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Beans

  • 31 ounces canned baked beans

Instructions

Smoky Beer Braised Brisket

  • Liberally salt and pepper the brisket
  • Whisk together the beef broth, liquid smoke, worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and onion powder for the marinade
  • Add the marinade and the brisket to a large resealable plastic bag, squeeze out excess air, and seal the bag
  • Refrigerate for 24 hours, turning the bag occasionally so that the brisket is evenly marinated
  • Preheat the oven to 275 degrees
  • In a large baking dish, pour in the beer and add the garlic and onion
  • Remove the brisket from the marinade, discard the marinade, and add the brisket to the baking dish
  • Cover with aluminum foil and bake 6 hours
  • Let the brisket rest 15 minutes before slicing
  • Cut 1 cup of brisket into small pieces
  • Refrigerate left over brisket in an air tight container for 1 week

BBQ Sauce

  • In a large saucepan, whisk all ingredients together and simmer over medium heat for 20 minutes

Beans

  • Drain and rinse the beans
  • In a large saucepan, mix together the brisket, sauce, and beans and simmer uncovered, over medium heat, for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally
